Thinking of Moving to Knoxville??? What you should consider, before moving.
The Greater Knoxville, TN area is one of the most popular places to relocate to, be it for retiring, raising a family, starting a new career, or just because. However, before you actually move to Knoxville you may want to know the truth and I am here to give it to you. Below is a list of major things you may want to consider before packing up and moving here.
- Schools- Did you know that Knoxville has one of the greatest school systems in the South East? With the University of Tennessee, Department of Education nestled in Knoxville, new highly trained teachers (most with Master's Degrees and 1 FULL year of teaching internship) are constantly entering our school systems. Compare this to other areas that are currently experiencing a crisis due to lack of good teachers…or any teachers at all for that matter.
- Crime Rate- Crime rate in Knoxville is very low compared to other areas. After growing up in Philadelphia, PA it is so nice to live in a place where people feel safe walking down the streets.
- Cost of Living- compared to many other areas Knoxville has a very low cost of living.
- State Income Tax- Not here, not in TN!
- Lottery- State and local lottery is used to fund educational scholarships (my younger Brother had his entire college tuition paid by the lottery).
- Environment- The greater Knoxville area is nestled in the valley, surrounded by beautiful mountains such as the Great Smoky Mountains, gorgeous lakes, peaceful streams and creeks, and the elegant TN River. Enjoy the wonders of all the major seasons but without the harsh conditions. If I could describe the Knoxville weather in one word that word would have to be "perfect".
- Natural Disasters- tornados, hurricanes, earthquakes, floods…Not very likely or common in this area which helps me sleep more soundly at night.
- Real Estate Market- With all the gloom and doom being portrayed by the media, this is a top concern for many. However, have no fear; the Knoxville area has a steadily increasing appreciation, which makes Knoxville an awesome place to invest your money. This is one of the MAJOR reason real estate investors as well as out-of-towners are flocking to Knoxville.
- Jobs- With Oak Ridge National Lab, the University of Tennessee, Several Hospitals, a top rated Children's Hospital, community colleges, tons of local business, and corporate offices, there are jobs for everyone and with good job security.
- Things to Do- Knoxville has something to offer for everyone. Please visit my Home Page www.HomesForSaleKnoxville.com for some video clips and additional information about the Knoxville area. I have lived here since 1985 and still am finding new things to do.
